Sod "How To"

Install your new lawn as soon as possible, preferably with 24 hours of delivery. When unrolling your sod remember to stagger the joints. This would be done similar to the laying of bricks. Roll your new lawn after installation. A regular pull type roller will be sufficient.

Water Your Sod!

It is extremely important to water your sod thoroughly immediately after laying it down. Remember that one gallon of water in the first hour is worth four gallons in subsequent hours. The initial watering should consist of enough water to saturate the sod as well as the subsoil. (Do not forget to catch the corners). It is very important to water your new lawn everyday for the first six - seven days after installation. (Do not be afraid to water during the day). Continue watering after the first week as weather conditions dictate.

Fertilizing should be done upon installation. It can be applied to the subsoil or put on top after installation. In either case remember to water after fertilization for maximum benefit. Thereafter, fertilizing should be done in late May, early August and mid-September. Again, remember to water it in. Choose a fertilizer which includes a relatively even mix of Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash.

You may mow your new lawn once it has taken root. This occurs approximately 10 days after installation. Do not mow the grass to short, especially in hot dry conditions.

Remember: If maintained properly, your lawn will always look lush and green.
